1. The Decision to Live Serenely

Welcome to this series of articles that I have written as a gift to you.  These articles include ideas and attitudes that I believe can help you to rise above the ways that most people stress themselves out in modern, everyday life.  I encourage you to read them through thoughtfully and deeply consider how your life can benefit through a greater feeling of serenity.

Creating serene, clear and motivating feelings out of stress is a big part of the basis of many person changes that people want to make.   The strategies that I share in these articles are not only ideas that I read about and heard were effective:  they are techniques that I know to be effective because I have used them on myself to make my own life more enjoyable and healthful.  And I know they work for other people because I have seen clients put them to work to create great results.

Obviously, sharing articles with you is not as direct a solution for challenges you may face as goal-directed hypnosis, but ultimately, the actualizing of your best life is up to you.  I wish you the best life possible as you achieve everything that you truly value.  And I challenge you to achieve all you want in life in ways that make you feel good.

It is up to your attitude whether you feel younger tomorrow than you feel today, or older.  It is up to your attitude how lovingly and graciously you respond to the challenge, change and uncertainty that life brings.  It is up to you whether or not you set your intention every morning on living a fantastic day and then living your day in a fantastic way no matter what gets thrown at you.

Serenity is not only about peace and monks chanting on a mountain.  It is about you walking out of the board meeting or dropping off your three kids at afternoon ballet, soccer and saxophone lessons during rush hour and doing it with an inward smile.  You have every right to feel good.

Decide to enjoy calm in your life.


Any other strategies that I will share later or that you can get from someone else work more effectively when you have already made the decision that you want to live a life that is as gentle on your body and mind as it is active and exciting. Decide to do that now. Decide that whatever happens today, you will respond to it calmly and resourcefully.


I am not talking about stress in external terms, like your body’s natural and healthy response to change in your life. I’m also not talking about joyful excitement. I’m talking about the experience that most people experience as stress which more or less boils down to your body tensing, your mind worrying, you going into a kind of fight-or-flight mode.


I enjoy an active, changing life, and I enjoy joyful excitement. It feels good. It’s good for me. When you’re smiling, laughing, marching forward and taking purposeful risks, that’s good for you. What isn’t good for you is when you respond to uncertainty or misfortune by tensing up your body. Tensing up doesn’t help. It hurts you.


Therefore, choose something better.  Decide for sure that you want to live a life of serene power.  And secure in your decision, move forward in life as you learn some more specific steps to making your everyday experience positive and joyful.  Read the articles in my site at the pace that will most naturally support your success, and enjoy.
